DAY 3 in Paris

Trip to Paris day 3

We woke up reassured that Jill’s very nasty bite by a parisien mosquito had abated .

The previous day we did show her swollen arm to La Pharmacie who gave her antihistamin cream and tablets… it is worth mentioning the pharmacist gave Jill some Cotton with antiseptic spray for Free!

We had planned the Sainte Chapelle with it’s amazing overwhelming stained glass windows

Alas we did not realise we had to reserve tickets…

Jill used quickly her thinking cap and we decided to visit a museum we had not heard of but never the less very exciting…

It is so strange that both of us wanted to see the Eiffel tower nearer than far away in Paris and l’Arc de triumph. We had decided to eliminate these ideas but to our delight, the taxi taking us to the museum, passed at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and on the way back, around l’Arc de Triumph.

The museum does have a very special story

A beautiful house was once owned by Paul Marmottan and is now home to the Musée Marmottan Monet. In addition to its collection of pre-modern paintings, sculptures and illuminations, it boasts the world’s leading collections of works by Claude Monet and Berthe Morisot. This outstanding Impressionist treasure is further enriched by works from Delacroix, Boudin, Manet, Degas, Caillebotte, Sisley, Pissarro, Gauguin and Rodin, with Chagall representing the modernist period.

The story of the house that use to be a château

Located in the hamlet of Passy, the Château de la Muette was dismembered and sold off in lots by the revolutionary government in 1790. Part of its former grounds were now occupied by the Ranelagh, a pleasure garden named after the Irish lord who had set this fashion in London. The grandson of Monet gave his collection of paintings to the museum. Have a look, you will see how full of treasures is this house! Georgeous rooms with exquisite items

Anyway Jill and I saw magnificent paintings by Monet with some small statues by Rodin, à collection by Berthe Morisot and so much more

It was not overcrowded… we had a very tasty piece of homemade cake, sat in the beautiful gardens… we knew that sadly it was our last day of wonderment… we were so lucky to have such a beautiful weather and just relax.

Afterwards we decided to go for a spot of shopping. Jill favourite shop in Paris Sezan. Trust me I could have been tempted but while Jill went to try a few items, I was happy resting in their comfortable armchairs.

We headed back to the flat for a small bite, a bit of relaxation and off we were again to the galleries Lafayette. My hold-all was a nightmare to travel with. We found one, I cannot wait to use it again. Practical, several pockets and strong!

Then we headed to the most amazing food store!!!

We have never experienced such food! Gargantuan cave!

For us girls who are on strict diet, it was very frustrating 😡

Then one last time stroll and it was time to pack our bags, eat and go to bed.

We had a tremendous time there and are already planning our next trip 🤩
