My trip to Paris day One

I visited Paris in June with my daughter Jill for 3 days. Obviously we didn’t have enough time to appreciate all there was to see, so we decided to go back on the 10th of September.

What an adventure for a woman who didn’t have any holidays or seen her country for 25 years!

We departed early morning to catch the 11am Eurostar in London. Great entertaining cab driver taking us to St Pancras station. It did set the mood for the day.

Frankly, I stress a lot when arriving to the Eurostar.

Big crowd of people, probably suffering the same kind of stress! Jill, my daughter who travels all over the World is not worried at all and while pulling our two luggages she took us to the customs area.

Why do I always feel guilty when I see some officials looking so dead serious, looking at me. Well I must admit they do not think an old girl like me could be a danger to security but most probably how can you travel at your age 😄

Well fun over! we have to remove our jackets, our phones. I am told, “remove your belt” I have no belt😛 even my stick is suspicious and go through the scanner. My luggage’s go through. OMG! The alarm is triggered with Jill’s handbag… search party!!! Jill had wrapped a piece of food in tinfoil! It’s OK, we can go through except me who cannot go through the body scanner as I am wearing a pacemaker.

Thank goodness I am wearing a pair of trousers as I am hand body search 😎… (just in case you wondered) by a woman. I even have to show the soles of my shoes.

That is it all over and done with…. NOOOO, now we have to show our passports. I am told to look at a screen that I cannot see… black on black.. only macular sufferers will appreciate. So Jill is waiting while once more I look suspicious 😀😀

We had a very relaxing time on Eurostar

We arrive in Paris. It is sunny and warm but not too hot. Extremely pleasant.

Like in June, we don’t have to wait behind a huge long queue for the taxis. Old age got a silver lining!

We are taken immediately in a cab that drives us to our Airbnb. A real treat.

We discover our flat on the 5th floor of a very big building

Be reassured there is a lift. The flat is elegant with marble fireplaces, large bed, lounge dining area, a posh bathroom and kitchen. A balcony with table and chairs 💃…We unpacked and decided to find shops where we could find the essentials… water, eggs, vegetables and fruits. We had only to cross this large and long road, go into a small street where we found a little supermarket filled with what was needed. We found another shop a few steps further.

We came back “home “, behaved like good English visitors and made ourselves a good cup of tea.

After a much needed rest, we decided to go out again to explore our surroundings.

Goodness, miracle! We are 10 minutes away from Le Printemps and Galleries Lafayette 🤩

Of course we spent some time exploring….we also discovered it was a Designer’s week in Paris… something to explore…

It was 7.30pm when we came back to the flat! We ate and went to bed.

The next day was going to be busy! We had reserved tickets at 10.30 to Orsay Museum..

Day 2 will be explained tomorrow.
